What is a meter?

2 min read

In Consumer Evolution, a meter allows you to record and control values associated with the use or operation of an asset.

The meters are primarily used to update maintenance programs configured with frequency triggers and can also be used to monitor measurement values within certain ranges.

What are the components of a meter?

Each meter is identified by a name and a unit of measurement.

Name

It allows you to identify the meter within the system.

Unit of measurement

Indicate the unit used to record your values, for example hours, kilometers, or other units defined by the company.

The units of measurement are managed through parameters.

Accumulated and non-accumulated meters

When creating a meter, you must define how the recorded values will behave.

Accumulated meter

It is used when the value represents an amount that increases as the asset is used, such as operating hours or kilometers traveled.

This type of meter can be used in programs with frequency triggers to determine when it is appropriate to generate a new schedule.

Meter not accumulated

It is used to record specific values that do not represent a progressive accumulation, such as those that must be monitored independently in each measurement.

Control using dimensions

The meters can be configured to control the recorded values using dimensions.

This configuration allows you to set reference ranges to analyze a measurement according to lower, average, and upper values.

Relationship with the readings

The values of a meter are updated through readings associated with an asset.

Each reading allows you to specify the asset, the meter, and the recorded value. For meters used by maintenance programs, keeping these readings up to date allows Evolution to evaluate the conditions configured in its triggers.
